Hey hey friends and lovers! If you are reading this from the Indiana area, we are all hopefully nestled into our warm homes as the two feet of snow glitters outside! That's what I'm doing, and I'm currently loving it. I also found it to be the perfect day to show you this session....and boy is it a doozy. It's a doozy in the sense that I posted a ton of pictures and I will have a ton of things to say about the beautiful humans in the photos.
A few weeks ago I traveled to New York City to capture a special time in Stephanie and Jason's relationship. From the very moment they sent me the first email to when we Skyped on the computer, I knew that there was something special about the art we would make together. Their love for each other is romantic. And that may sound like a no brainer, but if you spend any time around the two of them you will understand. The way they look at each when telling stories is like something straight out of a fairytale...you can tell that they love each other in those simple ways and it is so refreshing. Stephanie and Jason have had a long relationship of long distance phone calls, hand written letters, and dates through a computer screen. So for me to be in the first city they've shared in a long time was special in itself. The second thing that made all of this so special is the simple fact that they both GET IT. Loving someone else is not a part time job. It is a full time job that is hard and rewarding and glorious and beautiful and breathtaking. They get that...100%. They get that in the way they treat strangers and their friends and their families. So you better believe that I felt like an old friend the whole time I was in the city with them, walking around their favorite neighborhoods and chowing down on pizza in Brooklyn with their friends and family. They walked around in the freezing cold and pouring down rain for hours and never once complained. And they made me feel so at home and so comfortable that these are some images that I am really proud of. They might be some of the most authentic photos I've ever taken...simply because they trusted me like a friend and we all equally cared for each other on a deeper more spiritual level and that made these images REAL. To say I am excited to capture their wedding this summer is an understatement...I am literally counting down the days until I get to see them again.
This is what it is all about folks...this is the real deal.
And a special thanks to Rachel and Bre for traveling to the city with me! This was definitely a trip I won't forget!
